Samira Wilder has never had it easy, and when her latest lousy job goes south, things only promise to get harder. Until she unexpectedly meets a man who will change her life forever. Renowned pro golfer Roland Graham is wealthy, handsome, and caring, and Samira is dazzled. Best of all, he seems to understand her better than anyone ever has. And though their relationship moves a bit fast, when Roland proposes, Samira accepts. She even agrees to relocate to his secluded Colorado mansion. After all, there’s nothing to keep her in Miami, and the mansion clearly makes him happy. Soon, they are married amid a media firestorm, and Samira can't wait to make a fresh start—as the second Mrs. Graham . . .

Samira settles into the mansion, blissfully happy—until she discovers long-hidden journals belonging to Roland’s late wife, Melanie, who died in a tragic accident. With each dusty page, Samira comes to realize that perhaps it was no accident at all—that perhaps her perfect husband is not as perfect as she thought. Even as her trust in Roland begins to dwindle and a shadow falls over her marriage and she begins to fear for her own life, Samira is determined to uncover the truth of Melanie’s troubled last days. But even good wives should know that the truth is not always what it seems . . .

I gave this three stars because, as an avid reader of mystery and thrillers, I just felt I didn't connect with the writing style. I felt the characters weren't well fleshed-out, so I felt no connection to them. In fact, the main character is extremely unlikeable in the beginning, which made me irritated by her. That being said, I did manage to finish this book in two days, there is a lot of suspense, and I'm definitely not writing the author off. I believe there was a lot of potential for this story line, but it ended up being a jumbled mess at the end. Not the book for me, but definitely rooting for the author and looking forward to what she comes out with next.

This was a great read. Full of suspense but the ending fell very flat, almost rushed/cliche to me.

I loved the book. Read it in one day. I only wished the journal entries were written differently than the daily thoughts of Samira.

Wow, what an amazing read. Shanora Williams has created an astonishing thriller that keeps you on your toes and you have no idea that it will end the way it did. Samira has never had an easy life. But when fate hands her Roland on a silver platter, well who is she to toss fate to the side. Samira embraces Roland and doesn't allow the rumors that he killed his first wife to affect how she feels for him. That is until she discovers the journals of his dead wife. What they reveal makes Samira question who Roland is and the real relationship he had with his wife before. Samira finds herself distancing herself from Roland and consumed by the journals. She is determined to find the truth, but along the way will she lose the love of her life? The journey that Samira embarks on to find the truth is one I didn't see coming. So many twists and turns, it had my head twirling. Wow, what an ending, This is a must-read and one you won't be disappointed that you did. Well done Shanora Williams. You rocked another genre.

an avid Shanora fan, this book did not disappoint at all!! I love all her books, I haven’t read one that I did not like. After reading The Perfect Ruin, I was so looking forward to this book. She has slayed it! I didn’t think she could top The Perfect Ruin but the joke was on me. Her writing style is different than any other author I have read. I was sucked in from the beginning and could not put this down. Omg the plot twists, the characters. I can not get enough of it. Samira didn’t have an easy life but then she meets Roland. He is seemingly perfect in every way. They have a fast past relationship. She marries him, becoming the second wife. She finds his ex wife’s journals and all may not be what it seems with her “perfect” husband. I can’t say anymore without spoiling it. You just have to read this for yourself!! I received an Arc copy from Kensington Books and Shanora Williams through NetGalley for an honest review.
