Great series but heroine needs a backbone

I have nothing against the series, and I have read all of the books so far, and I do enjoy the flow of writing in the books. My one caveat is that I keep expecting M’s character to have developed somewhat more than this by now. There have been sporadic moments through out the series so far where she has stood up for herself; probably once in each book; but all in all when people are treating her badly she just cries.....and cries...and begs and pleads and promises to do what she’s told.....and cries some more. 😒 I will try one more time with the next book in the series but if M is still letting people lead her around by the nose and can not seem to develop a stronger sense of self. I will be out.
