I loved this story about strong women, art, and love. Not what I expected but truly delighted and grateful to have read it.

Really inspiring story. I was rooting for both of the women and learned a lot along the way.

Interesting read, but leave much to be desired. I was more interested in Jo’s story than anyone else in the book. The ending felt rushed and the time jumps left more questions than answers. Prompted me to go do some more research myself.

Fantastic characters, kept me very engaged as I flew through the book. It’s the kind of book that now that’s it’s over, I’ll miss the characters!

The secret life of sunflowers was a good read. It reminded me of another favorite, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. The three brave women, generations apart, shared a tenacity to keep pushing forward even when the path seemed blocked or hopeless. They moved on ahead. I may go back and read it a second time, and a third. I enjoyed the art references and foundation from beginning to end. Thank you, Marta, for sharing your research about this amazing woman and “ the rest of the story” by conjuring up the two other women over three generations later. Keep on writing! You did well.

Loved this book and the idea of two women a hundred years apart whose lives were intertwined !

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down and what a devotion Jo had to her husbands work and to her brother in law, Vincent Van Gogh.

Wonderful Simply a wonderful historical fiction read.

This book is self-published because it was rejected by publishers 17 times. The book renewed my faith in the publishing industry. It is so badly written that I had to work to keep from laughing at the 7th grade level metaphors. The characters are not fleshed out so much as papered with cartoonish stereotypes. Apparently some people enjoyed it so all I can say is if you prefer to read books that are well-written, be sure to read the sample before you buy this.
