The book provides a framework to ponder how social networking, social media is a reaction to opportunity rather than a forced change. The dropping of the constraints on production. Everyone is both a producer and consumer plus everyone can find tribes or people with similar interests. To group together with little concern for the costs historically associated with scale. The most interesting for me, shaped by my experiences, is chapter 6 where it becomes clear why communities form, why they wobble at times and why they will likely dissolve. The idea that you want to capture the contributions and then share them over time even when the people who created the foundation have moved on makes me wonder about the long tail impact. The book will make you think. Where you go with it is up to you and largely shaped by where you have been.
