I began this large book with a casual interest, for I have never been a fan of War narratives. I was attracted in the beginning because of the professor, Aaron Jastrow, who wrote a controversial book, “A Jew’s Jesus” and slowly I was taken into the life of Pug Henry, the Ensign to Roosevelt & his experience in Germany before the war started. What a marvelously written story. Wouk’s intertwining of personal lives with historical events was so captivating I could no longer quit even if I wanted to. Further, I must tell you, I am anxious to read “War and Remembrance,” and have already bought another book of his. Wouk is a master at research, he has to be! Every place he described, every scene, the political climate, all of It made me feel I was there in real-time. Herman Wouk has made a historical fiction reader of war narratives out of me!

A great combination of historical facts, and the author's fictional and non-fictional characters merging to bring the realism of the World at War! Could not put it down! RGF

In my attempt to read the classics I have found one of the best among the greatest. Perfectly written. Sad that I am finished. Jealous of those that are about to pick it up and start reading it.
