This is a delightful primer to the Stoic Philosophy. Easy to read, understand, concise and fresh.
  • A solid foundation, still majority applicable today

The content itself seems to be a 5 star summary of stoicism in manageable chapters. The idea of stoicism is a 4 star for me as I believe some of this hardened “just stay silent” information only works in more mild situations. While obviously you should use your best judgment and it also advocates for that (hence the respect for it as a philosophy) still I think it has some detractors in regards to language and information about how to take rests and manage inner child talk. I think reading supplemental materials on those two topics would make the theory better rounded for today’s day and age

This is just what I needed and will see what happens trying to follow this life style, and what more I can learn about Stoicism.
  • Short but Good

I have been curious about the Ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism for some time now. That said, I thought this book was a good introduction to the topic. It gives practical advise on how to implement it into your own life. However, I was definitely left wanting for more by the end. It’s a pretty short read at only 120 odd pages.
  • No nuance

Ideas are great in spirit, but there are far too many oversimplifications and unexplored assumptions.
  • Easy read and great knowledge!
